  • All of our Van's Aircraft RV-12iS aircraft are factory-built and certified as S-LSA's.

  • We are a flight school with a strong focus on safety first and offering the best possible flight training experience. We offer some of the most advanced aircraft available providing our students with modern technology to keep them safe.

  • The minimum total cost to obtain your private pilot rating is ~$13,000. Average students are able to obtain their private pilot rating for ~$14,000-$16000.

  • Thrasher Aviation is a cashless business. We accept check and all major forms of credit cards.

  • Depending on your level of time commitment, weather, etc., the average person can complete a sport pilot or private pilot in 6-9 months. This can be accomplished quicker as needed or stretched out over time.

  • We operate the Van's Aircraft RV-12iS. If you would like more information, please see our aircraft tab.

  • Due to the limitation of operating a Light Sport Aircraft, we have a currently have a maximum weight limitation of 230 lbs.

  • Our office is located at 460 Briscoe Blvd Lawrenceville, GA 30046. We are the 3 story building. Once you arrive, come inside and either take the stairs or elevator to the second floor. We are located in Suite #210.

  • Thrasher Aviation offers a First Flight Lesson. The cost is flat rate of $199.99. You will get 1 hour in the air and get to experience the joy of flying while flying with one of our fantastic flight instructors!

  • Thrasher Aviation does allow renters and we encourage you to come fly with us!

  • While there is no minimum age to learn how to fly, you must be 16 years of age to conduct your first solo flight and at least 17 years of age to take your private pilot checkride.

  • Learning to fly in a TAA aircraft is beneficial because you can do the majority of your pilot ratings in a single aircraft type. TAA also provides more situational awareness and technology that keeps our pilots safe.

  • Gwinnett-County Briscoe Field, or KLZU, is one of the best airports in the Atlanta area to learn to fly at. It offers an Air Traffic Control Tower to keep all air traffic organized and safe while keeping the flow of traffic to minimize time on the ground. It is also a convenient location for metro Atlanta residents offering a great airport to learn to fly at.
